Labelling
I say again, clothes are labelled for sizes identifications. Cars are labelled for capacity ratings. Specifically, everything are being labelled for identifications and choice.
Why would Genetically Modified (GM) foods not labelled!? Is it because the authorities know something which we do not know? We should have the right to choose what we are going to consumed.
Why should the authorities concerned about trans-fats labelling and not GM food labellings?Something is not right! Remember, the consumer should know what they wants and not what you are want to sell to them...

Visit to Xinjiang, China ( 24th September, 2006)
Some of the images captured during my recent visit to Xinjiang, Urumqi. Roadside stalls selling BBQ lamb meat on skewers and noddles with vegetables.
Morning breakfast stalls, selling oil fried pancakes and soya bean soup, corn soup and peanuts porridge.
A common breakfast is the mutton dumplings, chives dumplings and mutton noodles soup.
The season is going to autumn and leaves will be falling soon. Weather is still fine and cooling at max 26 deg C and night is 8 deg C.

A Perfect Society
The authorities are calling for good spoken and written English. Its about time. First of all, the teachers must be taught to speak and teach the language at a standard level.
Its still baffles me, the last alphabet – "Z". Should it pronounce "zee" or "zet"?
We were taught "zet". But it seems that the former pronunciation is more common. The problem should be solved at the basic level, that is, teach the teacher to be better trainers. Its about time for proper English.

A Bed of Roses
In life, it is unpredictable. We will discover that it is simply not a bed of roses. When you had forgotten to turn on the heater and the cold shower really wakes you up. Nothing is perfect. There are some circumstances beyond our control. Be thankful for what we have and do not be sad for what we do not have. It would depend on what level of esteem achievement that can satisfy your own needs and wants.
There is simply no time to smell the roses and every little step out of the home you would have to think of the survival. It’s a jungle out there!
There is always a time limit for expiry. Can foods, perishables or even our education and chronological age. It is so sad but true...

The Gods must be angry
Have you wonder the state of health of the world that we live in?
Temperatures have gone up and ice shelves in the south Antarctic had fallen or broken off their permanent deep frost. The cause and effect are working hand in hand logically. Oceans will rise and the water will swallow low-lying lands. Fishes will not thrived so easily and thus depleting the oceans food chains.
Deserts are growing at a faster than expected rate that leaves many governments in awe. The cause of harvesting a kind of black moss which hold back sands and the effect with marching deserts into rich lands. Reforestation cannot keep pace with the ever-hungry deserts. Sandstorms are becoming more frequent in some cities.
The higher temperatures will humidify the environment and will promote an excellent natural world for all kinds of diseases and viruses. So you really cannot blame any one or any countries for the recent bird flu.
Mankind has depleted the natural resources so fast that the nature cycle is unable to recuperate fast enough to be back to equilibrium. The cause of the human development is the effect on the environment and scare resources.
Unless there is another planet that promotes human life conditions, always remember, we have only one earth. To destroy her is a matter of time. Cause and effect theories, damage has been done. The Gods must be angry. Very angry...

The Greatest Invention
Gadgets are invented to save time and trouble. But the best invention is still the remote control. Be it for television use, cars, doors, fans, appliances etc..
Why, channels surfing have never been so easy that we could now see more with less time. No need to get up from the seat anymore and spilling the drinks. Cars doors could be unlock for fast access during rainy days. Reaching out to change the speed of the rotating fans if you are carrying a child. And the list goes on.
Just a touch of a button and voila! the equipment works accordingly. With daily advances of the scientific inventions, there will be a day, someday, where you can use the remote control to mute the sound of the surroundings, nagging wife or barking dogs. That will be the day...

A Choice
What this means is that:
1. we would not know what we are eating
2. we do not have a choice on what we are consuming
3. the producers of GM foods are experimenting with the population of Singapore
About three years ago (Nov 2003), I had posted about Genetically Modified (GM) foods. An article in the Straits Times, dtd 19th May 2006, that GM foods would soon be selling in Singapore and will not be labelled.
What this means is that:
1. we would not know what we are eating
2. we do not have a choice on what we are consuming
3. the producers of GM foods are experimenting with the population of Singapore
If we have a choice of the Advanced Medical Directive (AMD), I see no reason why we do not a choice on what we buy and eat. We would not know about the latter cause and effects of these foods. It would be too late to find out when the after effects happen.
We have first class governance, but this issue was not even discussed in the first place. What's wrong with normal food? Why are we mixing them with GM food products? The experiment to the population is thoughtless and maybe the producers "discovered" that Singapore propensity and acceptance to consume new goods and services.
If GM food is so glorious for the hungry world, they should sent it to famine areas where there is a dire shortage of food to go around.

Life Perspectives
The manifestations of mankind in the eons unfold for better or worse. There is little or no more of family values left over. We are busy everyday with material gains. Jealousy and competition takes a new meaning in that we want to be ahead in everything in life.
Even the basic obligation of performing the last rites for a senior family member leaves much to be desired. Not all the younger generation turned up to send the last journey for the grand matriarch. Now, if there are properties and assets to go around, then that there will like bees to honey. That would be a different story.
It is quite pathetic that no one volunteers to guard the wake through the night. The silent of the night and the body lying in the box reflects the sad state of affairs. Its really brings tears to the eyes for such a final journey. Most have forgotten their roots, their beginning. How they were brought to this world.
A pleasant surprise awaits those who stay for the wake. A miracle unfolds as the dearly departed soul came back in the form of a praying mantis, a moth and a bird. The walking style of the mantis reminds of the grand old lady; and the kindly bird taking a last look into the coffin of her own body.
Our earthly life is, but just a few decades. If we forsake the family values, some purposes in life will be lost...
Mankind must learn to release and relax. If we do not wish to attain something, nothing is lost. At the zoo, the humans are watching the animals or the animals are watching humans? Put them in your shoes, our freedom comes at a price whereas the animals are provided shelter and food in place of their freedom.

The Story of Two Monks
- Many variations to this story. Its goes like this... One day, two monks were returning to the temple. Along the way, they met a lady who fell and hurt her leg. Unable to walk, she sits beside the road side.
The elder monk taking pity carried her and back to her house. As monks are not supposed to touch the opposite sex, the younger monk was wondering why his fellow disciple took this action. It took a while before they reached their monastery.
Unable to keep the suspense any longer, the younger monk questions the elder monk on his action. In return, the elder replied that he had already let go of this thought when he left the lady down at her home and that the younger monk is still carrying her.
This story tells us to let go when the matter is over instead of harping over it. But being a human, we sometimes tends to hold on forever even when we are no long needed. Many a time, we could forgive but never forgets. Time flies and things and events will never be the same. Just like childhood. Children will grow up and they would lose their innocence forever.
What we have are photos and memories...
